Основными породообразующими минералами являются калиевый шпат (30-50%), плагиоклаз (10-35%), темноцветные минералы (5-10%) и кварц (20-35%). Акцессорные минералы представлены апатитом, цирконом и рудными минералами. Вторичные минералы - мусковит, хлорит и серицит. Спектральный анализ гранитов выявил следующие примесные элементы; Mn, Ni, Ti, V, Cr, Cu, Pb, реже Mo, Sn и Zr.

Lacustrine (lake) shales of the Yixian Formation (near-lowermost Cretaceous). The Jehol Group of western Liaoning Province, northeastern China has produced numerous remarkable fossils, particularly feathered dinosaurs.  Shown below is one of the most abundant fossil forms in the Jehol Group - this is Lycoptera davidi. Lower Creaceous, Aptian-Barremian.

Upper Cretaceous. Definitions of absolute age: 86-103 million years.
